Aruba Money-Saving Tips

Plan your trip with the lunar calendar in mind

Every month an all-out hedonistic bash takes place on the night of the full moon at the Havana Beach Club.

Free Dose of Culture

Take a free, educational tour of the Aloe Museum before choosing from dozens of locally made aloe creams, gels, shampoos, and other products at the museum's well-stocked gift shop.

You can drink the water

No need to stock up on bottled water or get stuck with an absurd mini-bar bill. Aruba’s water comes from a massive desalination plant and is entirely safe to drink.

Beware the Winds

Strong winds, though awesome for sailing, blow Aruba’s famous powder-soft sand all over beach bathers; the gusts also make for a challenging game of golf.

Hotel Bargains

While most reputable properties are on the expensive side, especially in the winter months, the off-season (mid-April through mid-August) often finds hotel rates slashed by up to 50 percent.

Deals, Deals, Deals

Check the Aruba tourism board site for special offers and deals on hotels, packages, restaurants, and activities (crm.aruba.com/specials).

Shopping Galore

Prices on high-end products like jewelry and clothing are 10 to 35 percent lower in Aruba than in the United States. American travelers are allowed up to $800 worth of duty-free items per trip.

Beat Those ATM Fees

Most ATM transaction fees will cost you at least $3, so make large withdrawals at a time to avoid wasting money.

Airport Transportation

Taking the bus from the airport will only cost you about $1.25 instead of $20 for a taxi.
