Cue the entrance music – Southwest Airlines has finally touched down at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport (as we first reported back in April). As of Sunday, New Yorkers can enjoy non-stop service to Chicago and Baltimore/Washington, D.C., as well as direct and connecting flights to over 45 domestic destinations that the low-cost carrier flies to.
To kick off the celebration with a unique twist on pre-flight announcements, check out rapping flight attendant David Holmes (above) spit out some rhymes to an amused audience.
Come November 1, Southwest will be touching down at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport. The budget carrier has scheduled at least one flight daily between Milwaukee and Baltimore, Kansas City, Orlando, Las Vegas, Tampa, and Phoenix – intro fares will start from just $35 (sale ends June 26). Officials at Southwest and Mitchell alike hope that the new service will reinvigorate travel in and out of the Milwaukee area, bringing much needed income to the region, while also offsetting the plunge in revenue reported by Southwest in the first quarter of this year.
Everything may be sunshine, beach-side barbeques, and picnics in the park right now, but once October rolls around that looming feeling will hit, and you’ll know the winter months are too close for comfort. When it does, you’ll have a tough decision to make - accept cold weather as inevitable, or run away from it. We suggest living in denial for another week or so, and by booking a flight ahead of time on one of JetBlue’s new routes to tropical locations, you’ll save some cold-hard cash in the process. Brushing shoulders with old money isn’t limited to Hamptons’ beaches: New Yorkers can walk alongside tony residents of another coveted summer rental location – Nantucket, Massachusetts – courtesy of JetBlue’s recently re-launched service there for a third year in a row. With a flight time of approximately one hour, it’ll take most New Yorkers even less time to reach this Cape Cod isle than to reach their fave Long Island getaway.
