The 19th-century building that's home to La Passion received a Republican-style makeover and a 21st-century upgrade for the hotel's launch in 2007. The owners rescued hidden murals and wall trims and added Andalusian and Arab influences in the worldly décor, such as Persian carpets and hand-carved Moroccan doors that feature prominently in all eight rooms and hallways. Lounges, a pool, and terrace bars keep the vibe hip but far from overdone or phony.
