This fresh resort is located in what’s planned to be a luxury development just north of Playa del Carmen. The 401 rooms and suites are spread along the resort’s main building through 90 two-story casitas set along meandering lagoons crossed by bridges. It can be a very long trek to the beach, so golf carts, bicycles, and even boats are available. Rooms have balconies or terraces, big bathrooms, LCD flat-screen TVs, and CD players, along with tea and coffee makers. The décor is standard high-end resort fare, with few hints you’re in Mexico. The development’s 18-hole golf course is a plus, but the resort’s restaurants are not quite up to par yet.
