This 7-night cruise on the Carnival Triumph will be coasting through New England right when the leaves are showcasing their most vibrant hues. Departing from New York City on October 3, the first port of call is historical Boston, followed by Portland, Maine which is home to numerous lighthouses, maritime museums, forts and observatories. Next, the ship sails to St. John, New Brunswick where passengers can sample some of the finest lobster, or head to the Reversing Falls, a natural phenomenon in which the St. John River actually flows in the opposite direction twice each day. After that is a visit to Halifax, Nova Scotia for stroll down the picturesque boardwalk before returning to New York City. Interior cabins are priced from just $349, and oceanview staterooms are available for $100 more.

Norwegian 10-night cruise from Philly
If you’d prefer a few extra days of exploration, this 10-night sailing from Philadelphia is priced from $649, with three different sailing dates to choose from. The first stop the Norwegian Majesty makes is St. John, New Brunswick, followed by Sydney Nova Scotia. Here, passengers can take a boat tour to Bird Island to witness some of the endangered wildlife in their natural habitat. After that, the ship continues on to Charlottetown, on Prince Edward Island, legendary home to the main character in the classic novel Anne of Green Gables. This area is ideal for history lovers, due to the numerous historical sites and homes. From there, the ship visits Halifax and Portland before returning to Philadelphia. Sailing dates include September 3, 13, and 23.
