Bora Bora’s newest resort (opened in September 2008) blends Four Seasons’ commitment to a high standard of luxury (with prices to match) and a magnificent lagoon-front setting only possible here. The resort’s 100 overwater bungalows are some of the best-designed in French Polynesia, decorated in pale wood that frames but doesn’t compete with the lagoon and Mount Otemanu views outside. They measure a generous 1,080 square feet and feature a king-sized bed in the bedroom plus a living room with sleeper sofa, and in between there’s a spacious bathroom with a deep soaking tub offering a view. There are also seven two- and three-bedroom beach villas for guests needing more room. Set on 54 acres on Motu Tehotu, the resort has Tahiti’s most dramatic spa (made of beautiful kahaia wood), a wedding chapel, four restaurants (including a beach bar), a kid’s clubhouse, and Chill Island, a hangout for teens. But because of the resort’s layout – with the kids area tucked away adjacent to the pool and the teens on their own island – couples seeking romance and parents traveling with children can all be happy.
