Bora Bora’s most glamorous resort, opened in 2006, is famous for several things: Its standard overwater villas are the island’s largest at 1,550-square feet (many are even roomier and a few have overwater pools and Jacuzzis); Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban spent their June 2006 honeymoon in the palatial Royal Estate villa; and the 2009 Vince Vaughn comedy Couples Retreat was filmed here. The St. Regis also pampers guests with Lagoon, a gourmet restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, as well as an intimate sushi bar, while its stunning white-sand beach, swim-up pool bar, and Lagoonarium (a protected saltwater snorkeling area filled with tropical fish) are perfect spots to enjoy Bora Bora’s natural beauty. There’s also a Kids Club. One caveat: Food is ridiculously expensive everywhere in Tahiti, but the five-star menu prices here will surely cause some shock.
