The Charles seems to absorb the tranquility of the adjacent Old Botanical Garden. New in October 2007, the Rocco Forte property eschews over-the-top Rococo glitz in favor of a subtle, pearl-toned sophistication. Carefully selected Spring-bud green accents (throw pillows, lamps, fresh flowers) take their cue from the park outside, and unite the overlapping hues of cream and coffee that define the 160 rooms. Heated bathroom floors and towel racks, not to mention internet connections, demonstrate an attention to detail that is mirrored in the service, with staff quick to provide assistance and respond to requests. Amenities like a gym and spa make the property friendly to business travelers, but visitors of all stripes appreciate the proximity to historic Königsplatz and the shopping areas of Theatinerstrasse and Maximilianstrasse.
