Myth meets modern day at this village-style haven. The mansion cum-hotel features 12 suites, each with a private terrace, that meet in a common area in 17th-century architectural style.  From the hotel you can see the clifftop temple to Athena, enclosed in a fortress, built by the Dorians more than 3,000 years ago. The scent of lavender and jasmine waft from the several gardens surrounding the hotel, and we love the charming old-world details like  raised hand-carved cedar sleeping platforms in each of its suites,  pebble mosaics, Lindian pointed arches, large marble hamam-style basins for exotic alternative bathing, as well  as modern conveniences like independently controlled air-conditioning.
