Overlooking the caldera in Thira, away from the bustle but within walking distance of restaurants and cafes, Hotel Atlantis is Santorini’s oldest purpose-built hotel, dating to 1955. Easy access (no steps and you can get a taxi right to the front door) makes it popular with older guests. The 25 spacious rooms (22 of which face the caldera) have en-suite bathrooms, TVs, and A/C – and most have balconies with sea views. Though slightly dated, the interior décor is light and airy, with tile floors, mint-colored walls, and silvery-blue bedspreads and drapes. There’s a pleasant outdoor pool lined with sun beds and a lounge with a lovely terrace. Breakfast is served around the clock, so you can sleep in as long as you want.
