An orange independently-run hotel with thatched palapa rooftops, a 15 minute walk from downtown San Miguel, is one of the island’s great finds. The four cheery rooms surround an inviting pool and include amenities that many of the pricier pads in town lack like XM radio, satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, free calls to the U.S. and Canada, and purified drinking water. Casita de Maya has found a loyal following since opening in 2004.
