Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro
Visa Requirements
Brazil's reciprocal visa system requires U.S. travelers to obtain a visa before arrival. Tourist visas are valid for 90 days (with a 90-day renewal option) and cost $160. You'll need to present a valid passport, round-trip or outbound ticket, and a passport photo to the local Brazilian embassy or consulate, which will usually process your application in 24 hours. Citizens of other countries should check their status before going as well, as visas cannot be issued on arrival at the airport. There is more information at www.brasilemb.org. You won't need a visa to visit Buenos Aires or Iguazu Falls.
