Solar do Castelo is one of the hotels operated by the family-run Heritage group, which operates a small chain of charming hotels in old houses and small homes around Lisbon. Solar is located in an historic 18th-century mansion within the walls of São Jorge Castle. The inn retains several original medieval features, like the cistern and a plaque that reads “1765,” as well as a lovely courtyard and garden. The 14 rooms are at once modern and old-fashioned, with cozy furnishings and contemporary amenities like Molton Brown products and free wireless internet access (available throughout the property).
