James Sherman - Founder & President
Background
Jim Sherman, founder of ShermansTravel Media, LLC launched the online business in 2002 to help travelers find the best travel deals and provide people with travel guides and destination advice. Not a booking site, ShermansTravel editors aggregate, screen and publish the best travel sales and specials from hundreds of providers. The travel deals include both bargains and values, and the site also provides expert destination advice and trip ideas for research and planning a vacation. The publishing firm's flagship product, Sherman's Top 25 travel deals e-newsletter, is read by over 4 million travelers. Other core products include Bulletins, ShermansTravel.com, and Travel Search, a price comparison tool.
Prior to launching ShermansTravel Media, Jim established WestEnd New Media in 1998, an internet strategy consultancy with a focus on helping publishing and media companies craft and launch new media businesses. It grew to be one of the largest media-focused Internet strategy consulting firms, and clients included Martha Stewart Living, Sony, AOL, Time Inc, Pearson Education, Cahners Publishing, the Metropolitan Museum, and more. Prior, he served as the General Manager/VP for the online business of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. He crafted the initial business plan for Martha Stewart and managed development of this successful publishing and e-commerce business.
Jim also worked at Time Inc. (corporate finance manager), Pearson (director of corporate development), and Troll Books (GM/VP, Online). He is also a former consultant with Bain & Company in their San Francisco office.
Education
- Stanford University, B.A., M.A.

Personal
Outside of work, Jim enjoys the theater, running, and of course travel. Read about his latest adventures on Jim's Journal. He also does a mean rendition of Scott Joplin jazz on the piano! Of course, on the domestic front, he loves to throw parties and can often be seen with a robust "greyhound" (vodka and grapefruit) in hand.

Many all-inclusive resorts allow kids to stay for free. Look for adults-only resorts if you're looking for peace and quiet.
