Freestyle Skiing

Instead of packing up those skis and saying good-bye to the slopes post Olympics, aspiring freestylers can continue to ski well into summer on Whistler/Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier, in British Columbia, Canada. It’s quite the hike to reach the glacier summit – once you reach the top of Blackcomb Mountain, you still need to take three chairlifts and a bus ride to get there – but, if you’re looking for excellent freestyle training coupled with well-groomed terrain, pack your helmet and ski boots and get ready for some serious one-on-one coaching. Now in its 15th year – slightly longer than the sport has been an Olympic contender – Momentum Ski Camps offers the utmost in mogul terrain, with eight lines of perfect bumps of varying degrees of steepness and five table tops from 15- to 50-feet high to let you practice new air techniques. The camp’s nine-day sessions (six days of skiing; one day of rest; two days of travel) are directed by a team of former and current national-team-member coaches who’ve either competed in the World Cup or participated in Olympic Games.
