Acapulco Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods

Backed by the Sierra Madre Mountains, Acapulco, with its palm-fringed central bay of gold-sand beaches is situated on the Pacific coastline of southwest Mexico. The city’s main thoroughfare, “la Costera,” traces Acapulco Bay from the Old Acapulco quarter in the west towards the newer Diamante section in the east.

La Costera
Acapulco’s main commercial drag is the Avenida Costera Miguel Alemán, or simply "la Costera," which hugs the swoop of Acapulco Bay and is lined by shops, restaurants, and bars.
Golden Zone
Also known as the “Hotel Zone,” the names of this Acapulco Bay neighborhood reflect the golden sand beaches and stream of high-rise hotels that meet here.
Old Acapulco
Downtown demonstrates historic Acapulco, evidenced by the presence of a Spanish colonial fort dating back some 400 years and the zócalo (town square) where Acapulqueños far outnumber tourists.
Peninsula de las Playas
Jutting out from Old Acapulco on the mainland, this peninsula, dotted by lovely beaches and reasonably-priced hotels, marks the location of the town's original tourism infrastructure.
Las Brisas
Meaning “the breezes” in Spanish, this upscale nabe teems with villas, clubs, and restaurants. Its hillside location affords it splendid ocean and bay views, not to mention cooling breezes.
Diamante Zone
The up-and-coming “Diamond Zone” – a mix of golf courses, superior hotels, and lavish private villas and condos – is taking shape alongside beaches from the Punta Diamante peninsula eastward.
