Africa Getting There

Airports
Most U.S. travelers pass through a European hub to get to Africa. Otherwise, there are direct flights from New York (JFK) to Ghana’s Accra Kotoka International Airport (ACC), Senegal’s Dakar Yoff-Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport (DKR), Egypt’s Cairo International Airport (CAI), and Morocco’s Casablanca Mohamed V Airport (CMN); and from Atlanta (ATL) and Newark (EWR) to Johannesburg (JNB) in South Africa.
Airlines
South African Airlines, Kenya Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Egypt Air, and Ethiopian Airlines all have decent links with Europe. Royal Air Maroc offers flights from New York to North and West Africa via Casablanca. British Airways, Air France, and KLM all have good Africa networks.
Flight Times
12-16 hours from New York to most African destinations (including one stop in Europe, typically London or Paris).
