Amazon Itineraries

If you’re coming from the U.S., dropping in for a long weekend isn’t very practical. Adding an Amazon weekend to an itinerary that includes longer stays in Rio and/or São Paulo, however, is more feasible. From Manaus, you could take a quick trip to Itacoatiara for a day or two of fishing and sightseeing. From Belém, you can hop over to Marajó Island.

One week is perfect for a five- to seven-day river excursion or fishing trip out of Manaus or Belém.

Take in the sights, soak in local culture and history, and enjoy Amazonian cuisine in Manaus or Belém. Then head out for an adventurous and relaxing stay at an eco-lodge deep in a jungle reserve such as Mamirauá.
