Peak Season: June to August Book hotels and restaurants early as tourists from around the world descend during school break (expect scores of pot-seeking college kids, who can also be avoided if necessary). Positives include reliable weather, late evenings, and easy excursions to nearby beaches.
Off Season: December to March There’s a reason for Amsterdam’s sparse winter crowds: the weather can be bone-chillingly raw. On the other hand, with the exception of New Year’s Eve, you’ll have the run of the city.
Sweet Spot: April to May; September to November With the summer crowds gone, the city settles into its easygoing self. Pack carefully – weather can bounce between winter’s chill and summer’s heat – but it always seems to be sunny on Queen’s Day at the end of April.
