Charles Rogier XI is a cool bed and breakfast run by Katrin S’Jongers in the even cooler Het Zuid neighborhood. It’s a study in old world civility, charm, and style, and is decorated accordingly, with antlers on the walls, striped wallpaper, plush armchairs, and leopard carpet. There are only three suites, each with a grand theme, all sumptuously appointed (think: chaise lounges, claw-foot bathtubs, thick curtains). The Lady Bertinelli suite on the first floor has a four-poster bed and a fireplace, the second-floor Charles suite is all Scottish plaid and tartan, and the Vendôme suite on the third floor is toile de jouy French. The food is a great bonus: the mini bar is complimentary and the impressive breakast spread is organic.
