Bangkok When To Go

Peak Season: November to January
Prices are higher than usual, but still relatively low – you’ve entered the Third World! Never come without having booked a room. Enjoy fabulous festivals, appealingly warm days, balmy nights, and no rain whatsoever.
Off Season: February to April
The heat is on, and Bangkokians cool off at Songkran (the Thai New Year a.k.a. the Water Festival); prepare for some serious splashing. Otherwise, it’s too hot to trod the streets, though bargain hunters are in for a treat.
Sweet Spot: May to October
Daily showers and impossibly high humidity mean less tourists but more hassle – though trying to hail a cab on flooded streets is a definitive Bangkok experience. Plus, hotel rates are low.
