Berlin Getting There

Airport
Berlin’s small but efficient Tegel International Airport (TXL) serves transatlantic and other international passengers; Berlin Schönefeld (SXF) brings in travelers from all over Europe and elsewhere. Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) is scheduled to open around 2011.
Airlines
Delta and Continental offer nonstop flights to Tegel from JFK and Newark. US Airways, United, American, and Lufthansa offer connecting flights to Tegel through other European airports.
Flight Times
9 hours from New York; 16 hours from Los Angeles (plus 2-4 hours for layovers and connections); 2 hours from London.
Trains
Deutsche Bahn offers excellent service (barring occasional strikes) to Berlin from airport hub Frankfurt (FRA) (4 hours) and all over Germany. When arriving at Berlin’s gleaming glass Hauptbahnhof, check out the largest two-level train station in Europe.
