Peak Season: May to September Germans love to be outdoors, and Berlin’s temperate summers are the best time for relaxing in one of the city’s many parks and Biergartens (beer gardens) with your fellow mensch. Book early, as hotels and hostels can fill up.
Off Season: January to April Berlin’s grey skies and frigid temperatures may scare away the average traveler, who will miss February’s bustling and star-studded Berlin International Film Festival. The glowing lights of the many local bars and cafes offer warm comforts and mulled wine.
Sweet Spot: October to December Fall and early winter can be cold, but Berlin’s many Christmas markets (more than 50) make up for it with twinkling lights, tasty treats, and charming trinkets. Some package deals can be found, but book far ahead for December as this is also a popular time for Germans to travel within their homeland.
