Famed 19th-century artist Winslow Homer, a Bermuda regular, painted his celebrated "Salt Kettle" scene from the dining room window of this inn's 200-year-old main house; the view (and pace) seems relatively unchanged in a century. You won't find room phones or even Internet access here, but… more the tranquility, charm, amazing value, and warm, award-winning hospitality of innkeeper Hazel Lowe (and daughter Jane) more than compensate. The guesthouse – a smattering of pretty little whitewashed cottages with turquoise shutters fronting Hamilton Harbour – is a quick stroll from a private swimming cove and the ferry into the capital, while beaches and golf courses are just a five minute drive away. There are seven units, all with private bath and air-conditioning: two in the main house, an adjoining fully outfitted apartment, and four waterside cottages with kitchens, shady verandahs, and fantastic harbor views. Rooms are small but immaculately kept, with a comfy mix of simple whitewashed wood furnishings, beamed ceilings, brick floors, handsome blue bed-linens and matching upholstery, and the occasional 1940s antiques.
