Bordeaux: Restaurants

Paula Wolfert, who wrote the definitive American cookbook on Southwest French cuisine, called it “France’s magnificent rustic cuisine.” Hearty dishes like cassoulet, pot-au-feu, and duck confit burst with lusty flavors. Dishes are cooked with and complimented by the region’s robust wines. Just don’t expect to spend less than $30 on a meal – the region isn’t known for its “budget” fare. In fact, it’s not uncommon for dinner to run upwards of $100.
