Sherman's Expert Review

The historical Bostonian façade dating back to late 19th century might fool you, but step inside the Charlesmark Hotel and you’ll discover classic modernist decor and lots of high-tech goodies. The hotel’s stellar central Back Bay location at Copley Square is a great selling point, more as is the mod Charlesmark Lounge, which is popular for its outdoor patio and cocktails, and complimentary daily breakfast. The 40 guest rooms feature custom-made oak furniture, designed to enhance functionality in the compact spaces. Those who need room to stretch out should steer clear of the standard rooms which at just 144 square feet only have room for a double bed. Larger rooms feature queen-size beds as well as a small sofa, which pulls out into a twin bed. Bathrooms are decked out with imported Italian ceramic tiles and custom built vanities – music lovers will especially appreciate the bathroom stereo speakers.

"Fantastic location"

Stayed three nights at this hotel and thought it was great. Room (and bed) was small, and the air-con fan which always ran was a little noisy, but this was more than made up by the great location and extremely modern and tasteful room and hotel... more

I would avoid the hotel. It's sketchier than hell. There's barely a front desk. It's more like a front booth with some dude who looks like a bouncer. There are stains all over the common hallway carpets. There's nothing quaint, nice, or hip about... more

"Great location -- comfortable, recommended"

Charlesmark is located in a great area -- close to restaurants, shops, sights-to-see. The hotel is small -- but that worked just fine. Water pressure is great. The bed was very comfortable. Normal city and hotel noises, but nothing that interrupted... more
