This boutique, neo-classical Kimpton hotel debuted in 2003, livening up the somewhat humdrum Cambridge hotel scene with an innovative alternative to the historic-themed lodging options in the area. The funky lobby encourages guests to linger, be it during the nightly wine receptions (free for guests)… more or over the complimentary coffee and tea served each morning. While it attracts a hip crowd, the Hotel Marlowe remains unpretentious and has very family- and pet-friendly policies. The rooms manage to maintain elegance while exhibiting a playful and fun flair, and are loaded with high-tech goodies, like PlayStations and complimentary Wi-Fi. A large desk provides an ample work area, while an oversized red-velvet armchair offers a place to enjoy the views - if you're in a city-side room, you'll have spectacular vistas of the Boston skyline. The beds have triple sheeting with Italian Frette linens, and are topped off with plush down comforters. Feeling active? Take one of the hotel's kayaks or bicycles for a paddle or spin, no extra charge.
