Sherman's Expert Review

This boutique, neo-classical Kimpton hotel debuted in 2003, livening up the somewhat humdrum Cambridge hotel scene with an innovative alternative to the historic-themed lodging options in the area. The funky lobby encourages guests to linger, be it during the nightly wine receptions (free for guests)more or over the complimentary coffee and tea served each morning. While it attracts a hip crowd, the Hotel Marlowe remains unpretentious and has very family- and pet-friendly policies. The rooms manage to maintain elegance while exhibiting a playful and fun flair, and are loaded with high-tech goodies, like PlayStations and complimentary Wi-Fi. A large desk provides an ample work area, while an oversized red-velvet armchair offers a place to enjoy the views - if you're in a city-side room, you'll have spectacular vistas of the Boston skyline. The beds have triple sheeting with Italian Frette linens, and are topped off with plush down comforters. Feeling active? Take one of the hotel's kayaks or bicycles for a paddle or spin, no extra charge.

My best friend, Natasha, got married here! It was such an awesome wedding spot, I can't even begin to explain. First, it's not too huge of a hotel, and that makes it just the right size for a wedding. As Natasha mentioned, the fact that they only do... more

Like Cambridge itself, Hotel Marlowe is fun, funky, and serious when it needs to be. The hotel opened in 2003 in a new eight-story building near the CambridgeSide Galleria mall and the Museum of Science -- a great location for families -- and offers... more

"Unbelievable."

I read the reviews of the hotel before we arrived and expected to be disappointed - I figured there was no way the hotel could live up to the hype -- but I was wrong! The place was amazing. Nice rooms and awesome customer service. The service was... more

"Slightly Over the Top, But Very Good Service"

The Marlowe hotel is located in Cambridge, across the Charles River from Boston. It's a boutique hotel slightly ostentatious in its furnishings. I mean, how else do you classify the fake-fur tiger print throw that adorns your bed? This sort of... more

I've stayed at the Marlowe each year in June for a week, for the past four years, in conjunction with an annual conference, also booking colleagues there. The comfort and quiet of the rooms are the chief reason to stay there, along with the location... more
