The 100-acre property of Mill Creek Farm consists of pastures, orchards, a pond, and a 4,000-plus-square-foot, fieldstone manor house – the perfect bucolic, countryside setting. Guests can stay in one of five rooms or suites, including the George Washington Suite, which dates back to 1730 and is famous for having hosted George Washington himself (the room still looks the way it did when he was here). Extras include a private tennis court, pool, and a pond for ice-skating in the winter.

This rustic farm-turned-bed and breakfast is a bold deviation from the cookie-cutter stone-farmhouse norm of Bucks County country inns. Rather than housing guests in the farmhouse, all guests stay in the unique rooms and suites of a fully converted stone barn and millhouse, including posh hayloft rooms with access to a deck. In addition to the farm fresh breakfast in the morning, guests can saddle up for a horseback ride at a nearby facility.

To get away from the glaring lights of Broadway, legendary Broadway composer and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein Jr. retreated to the simplicity and solace of Highland Farm. Local lore had it that the musical Okalahoma! was inspired by the views of the gentle rolling fields and barnyard from the wraparound porch. Guests can unwind in rocking chairs on the front porch while enjoying the gracious accommodations of this charming, four-room B&B. Highland Farm will have guests singing “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” with finishing touches such as a delightful wine and cheese reception every evening in the living room, 500-thread-count linens, high speed WiFi, and regal antique décor.

For a unique shopping experience, head to Quakertown. Every Friday and Saturday from 9am-9pm, and Sunday from 10am-5pm the town hosts a thriving, 250,000-square-foot flea market and a ‘Best of Bucks’ farmers market, with hundreds of vendors selling everything from antiques, collectibles, fresh produce, handcrafted novelties, homemade pies, and artwork.

On the historic towpath of the Delaware canal, Porches provides quiet colonial ambience close to the funky boutiques, taverns, and restaurants of downtown New Hope. The two-story wraparound porch is quirky, yet charming, decorated with Adirondack and wicker chairs, French and English antiques, and even old-fashioned, footed-tubs (if you’re so inclined, you can request a room with one of these tubs as well). Many of the 12 rooms in the main house feature beautiful views of the gardens and canal, as well as the iconic mule-drawn barges floating up and down the waterway.
