Cairo When To Go

Peak Season: December to February
Crowds flock to Cairo in the winter when days are sunny and evenings are cool and breezy. Steel yourself for long lines at popular sites and peak prices.
Off Season: May-September
The summer months in Cairo are oppressive with temperatures regularly climbing over 100-degrees. On the plus side, hotels – even top-tier properties – can be had at rock bottom prices and crowds are sparse.
Sweet Spot: March to April; October to November
During these months fewer tourists spell shorter lines and, occasionally, lower hotel prices. Avoid Ramadan, when many shops, restaurants, and sites are closed (exact dates of observance vary, but in 2008 and 2009 the holiday occurs in late summer/fall). Temperatures average in the 80s.
