Mud-season keeps skiers and sun-worshipers away from the mountains for this stretch of the year, but, occasionally, late snows and early thaws can make it a great time to visit – just watch the weather and plan accordingly.

After the leaf peepers leave and before the snowboarders come, the Catskills have a chance to catch their breath.
