Peak Season: mid-March to mid-June; mid-September to November When the weather’s sultry, but not too hot, and the gardenias are in bloom, Charleston is heaven on earth. It is, however, a very crowded heaven on earth, so make reservations in advance. Temperatures range from the low 50s to the mid 80s.
Off Season: December to mid-March Even in the dead of winter Charleston temperatures rarely drop below 40, with highs in the low 60s, so if you’re looking for a quiet getaway, this is the time. Valentine’s Day, however, brings a rush of tourists.
Sweet Spot: mid-June to mid-September With temperatures in the low 90s and muggy air as thick as milk, summer in Charleston requires plenty of shade and water. But if you can handle it you’ll be rewarded by slightly fewer crowds and perfect, 75-degree nights.
