Prices are higher, but still budget-friendly (you’re in Thailand, after all). Warm days, no rain, and festivals draw crowds so book rooms at least a month in advance. Tip: bring sweaters. Nighttime temperatures drop to the 40s.
Off Season: February to April
It’s too hot to trod the streets (temperatures can hit 100 degrees), but Songkran, the Thai New Year (aka “The Water Festival”) takes place in mid-April. Bargain hunters are in for a treat as prices drop citywide.
Sweet Spot: May to October
Daily showers and impossibly high humidity spell less tourists but more hassle. Still, it's the perfect time to visit waterfalls and go river rafting while the water is high. Plus, hotel rates are low.
