Copenhagen: Shopping

The renewed interest in mid-century modern antiques means that Denmark is again acknowledged as one of the world capitals for impeccable taste. The single best street for vintage shopping is Bredgade. The Scandinavian sense of style also extends to clothing, and there are plenty places to buy the latest Nordic fashions; Illum is the obvious place to start.

A.C. Perch’s Thehandel On most weekends, a line forms outside this tiny teashop, established in 1835, as the locals queue to order loose-leaf teas that are weighed out in brass scales. It’s worth waiting to see the 19th-century interior and to ask the friendly staff for their recommendations. The bestseller is a green tea blended with ginger and lemon.
