The D’Angleterre is the grand dame of Copenhagen hotels: the stateliest and most imposing property that is usually first choice for visiting dignitaries. It’s been in business for more than 250 years and the location on a huge square called Kongens Nytorvis is terrific and close to Nyhavn. Public spaces and the restaurant are grand and opulent. However, some of the 123 bedrooms are starting to look dated, with fabrics that should be updated and insipid color schemes. Considering the high price, the hotel could be accused of resting on its laurels.
