Costa Rica: When To Go

Peak Season: January to March Demand peaks in the dry-season months, when you can expect lots of sunshine, high temperatures, crowds, and higher hotel prices.

Off Season: May to November Rainy season in Costa Rica, combined with more pleasant U.S. temperatures, render the summer months less desirable weather-wise (despite generally sunny mornings and reliably tropical temperatures) but a better bet in terms of budgeting and hotel availability.

Sweet Spot: mid-November to December; April The best of both seasons – on the cusps of dry and rainy – with less rain and fewer tourists, plus (for Costa Rica) bargain-basement prices.
