The older parts of Dubai have a distinctly more urban feel then the newer neighborhoods. If you’re looking for a more genuine Middle East experience, opt for Bur Dubai or Deira. Those longing for a holiday of sunbathing and outdoor activities will feel more at ease with hotels in Jumeirah. Mall lovers and indoor ski enthusiasts will love staying on Sheikh Zayed Road where the Mall of the Emirates, home to Ski Dubai, is located.

Jumeirah
Dubai’s most exclusive coastal neighborhood. The only high rises here are world-famous hotels Burj-al-Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, making it an ideal spot for a resort-style vacation.
Deira
Though no longer Dubai’s most important district, it’s certainly the most traditional. Here you’ll find the Gold and Spice Souk alongside dozens of abras (traditional water taxis/boats) that will take you around Dubai Creek, a body of water that runs through the city.
Bur Dubai
Dubai’s oldest neighborhood, where you can find the historic Bastakiya quarter as well as the Dubai Museum and Heritage and Diving Village, which displays a permanent collection reflecting this city’s early history.
Sheikh Zayed Road
Named after a former Dubai president, this highway runs through the center of town and is lined with numerous hotels, notably the Kempinski and Shangri-La. The road also travels through the Al Barsha neighborhood, which is most famous for accommodating the Mall of the Emirates.
Dubai Marina
One of Dubai’s newest quarters contains the world’s largest manmade marina, Media and Internet City (the city’s media hub), and several high-end hotels, including the Grosvenor House.
Al Garhoud
Located just next to the airport, this area is known mostly for the Aviation Club, which houses The Irish Village, a traditional Irish pub with the city’s largest beer garden.
