Easter Island When To Go

Peak Season: December to February
Unlike its Polynesian siblings, Easter Island is subtropical, meaning that its far enough away from the equator that it never gets as hot as, say, Tahiti. Still, it does reach a very muggy 85 degrees during these summer months, making it ideal for swimming (though less ideal for hiking and archaeological site-seeing). Expect top prices and lots of tourists as this is prime travel time in Chile.
Off Season: July to August
The Chilean winter – July to August – is cold and rainy (expect temperatures in the high 50s). If you don’t mind the chill, however, you’ll benefit from rock-bottom prices and the complete absence of crowds.
Sweet Spot: October to November; March to April
These months are the best time to visit – solidly in between the high season rush and the eerie, off-season emptiness, the archaeological sites are still crowd-free and the rates are still reasonable. Best of all, the weather, typically in the 70s, is ideal for both hiking and beach-going.
