Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL, 10 miles north of the city) is the entry point for the vast majority of international flights to Finland, including all from the U.S. Most of the country’s other airports mainly handle international flights from within Europe. These airports include; Tampere-Pirkkala (TMP, 10 miles southwest of Tampere), Turku (TKU, 5 miles north of Turku), and Oulo (OUL, 10 miles southwest of Oulo).

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) offers service to Helsinki via Stockholm or Copenhagen from Newark, Chicago, and Washington, DC, with US connections on its partner, United. Within Europe, most major national carriers fly directly into Helsinki; low cost Ryanair offers service from several cities, including London and Milan, to Tampere.
