Florence When To Go

Peak Season: May to September
Besides higher prices and tourist-filled streets, cafés, and museums, expect sultry weather, with temperatures well in the 90s between June and August. Many performing arts festivals, including the acclaimed Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, run in these months. Book 1-3 months in advance.
Off Season: November to March
Though Florence hardly ever gets snow, winters can be cold (expect temperatures in the 40s), wet, icy, and/or windy. On the bright side, during these months you'll benefit from fewer tourists, lower prices (though not necessarily during Christmas and New Year’s), and reasonably empty attractions.
Sweet Spot: April; October
For fewer crowds, moderately lower prices, and reasonable weather, plan your trip for October, when days are still warm and evenings cool (temperatures in the 60s), or, if you don’t mind occasional showers, April (except during Easter week). On the down side, this is when most school groups also visit.
