Fort Lauderdale Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods

The 33-square-mile city of Fort Lauderdale proper is the central element of a Broward County patchwork of 31 municipalities sprawled across 1,200 square miles, extending from Hallandale and Miramar along the Miami-Dade County line northward to Deerfield, abutting Palm Beach County (specifically, Boca Raton).

Fort Lauderdale Beach
Acting as the city's main tourism magnet, the beachside stretch of the city pops with new luxury high-rise hotels, open-air cafes, and the Beach Place shopping plaza.
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea
A tiny, family-friendly beachfront enclave at the east end of Commercial Boulevard. Fish from Anglin's Pier, shop Pelican Square, or snorkel the coral reef system that starts 100 yards offshore.
Dania Beach
A quirky stronghold of small-town Florida life where you'll find numerous antique stores, a sporting complex for the high-speed Basque game of jai-alai, and Jaxson's old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
Wilton Manors
The heart of the city's gay community and home to Pride of Greater Fort Lauderdale's Stonewall Street Parade and Festival in June.
Hollywood Beach
With its expansive beach and 1.5-mile concrete "Broadwalk," an oceanfront promenade lined with affordable eateries, the East Coast Hollywood encourages people watching of the non-celebrity variety.
Downtown Fort Lauderdale/Riverwalk
Cultural opportunities flourish, courtesy of the Museum of Art, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and Museum of Discovery and Science. Shopaholics flock to Las Olas Boulevard, while club crawlers haunt the Riverwalk area.
