Frankfurt is a bustling city of commerce and its hotel options, most of which are geared to business travelers, reflect that both in their high prices (especially during the work week) and lack of availability. Many hotels double or even triple their prices during the messe (international fairs and conferences) which unite professionals from fields ranging from publishing (the city hosts the world’s largest book fair) to the pharmaceutical and automotive industries. Book well in advance if you plan to visit during these times and stay at places that are either above or below conference-goers’ budgets (keep abreast of upcoming conventions at www.messefrankfurt.com). The vast majority of properties are either located in the Stadmitte neighborhood alongside nightlife, restaurants, and historical sites or in trendy Westend, where the trade fairgrounds are located.
