Frankfurt: Tips

Language Politeness will get you far in Frankfurt. Most Germans speak some English and are happy to show off their knowledge of their city and the English language.

Visa No visa is required for U.S. Citizens visiting Germany for less than 90 days.

Currency Germany uses the Euro, and major credit cards (American Express, Visa, MasterCard) are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops. Keep traveler’s checks as a backup, and keep US$100 in a location away from your other money, just in case.

Don’t “ride black” Fines for riding a streetcar or a bus without the proper ticket are 40 Euros.

Try the street food Don’t shy away from kiosks selling wursts, kebaps, and falafel. They’re a must-eat, late-night snack (especially after a night on the town!)
