Frankfurt: When To Go

Peak Season: April to May; September to October; December Because it’s home to so many international conventions (like the world’s largest book fair in September/October), Frankfurt's population swells in the fall, the off-season in many other European cities. You’ll encounter highs in the 70s and less rain than in the summer. Book your hotel well in advance.

Off Season: November; January to March Now’s your chance to hunker down at that luxe hotel you’ve had your eye on. Stormy, freezing late winter (with temperatures around 20-30 degrees) is for staying indoors! February hosts numerous pre-Lent “Fassnacht” parties and is a great time to absorb the quirkier side of German culture.

Sweet Spot: June to August Summers in the city are filled with cultural offerings and street festivals. Many locals leave for their own vacations, leaving the Frankfurter summers to be enjoyed outdoors by the tourists. As long as there’s not a “messe” in town, this is the when you’ll get the best bang for your buck.
