East End Historic District
Spanning over 50 blocks east of downtown, this district – one of the city’s most prestigious addresses – encompasses 400+ historic mansions, including examples of Greek Revival and Victorian architecture.
Downtown
Downtown stretches from the harbor to Broadway and 19th to 25th Streets. Here, restaurants, shops, bars, art galleries, and antique stores share street space with Victorian homes and hip lofts.
Strand Historic District
Gorgeous Victorian homes have kept this upscale neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970. Post Office Street is known for happening nightlife, dining, shops, and museums.
San Jacinto
Part of what locals call “Beach Central,” the San Jacinto neighborhood has the longest frontage on the Gulf of Mexico. Its great views attract both locals and visitors.
Kempner Park
Centered around 25th street south of Broadway is the other part of locally dubbed “Beach Central.” Homes here range from impressive period mansions to tiny cottages.
