Grand Canyon: Regions

Tuweep Near Kaibab National Forest, the highlight here is Toroweap Overlook, a sheer 3,000-foot drop to the Colorado River below. Plan on camping as there’s not much else here.

North Rim The more remote (and consequently less accessible) North Rim sees fewer visitors. It’s only open from mid-May to mid-October due to snow. Point Imperial affords views of the Painted Desert and the eastern end of the Grand Canyon, including Marble Canyon.

South Rim The traditional gateway to Grand Canyon National Park, this is the most easily reachable (read: crowded) section of the park. You’ll find the historic El Tovar lodge here, as well as numerous restaurants and activities.

Grand Canyon West Part of the Hualapai Nation and home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, this is the only place where helicopter tours are allowed to go below the canyon’s rim.
