Greek Islands When To Go

Peak Season: July to August
Foreigners and Greeks invade the islands in droves, attracted by the sunshine, fine beaches, warm sea, and glamorous nightlife. Hotel prices rise accordingly, reservations are essential, many resorts are overcrowded, and temperatures can exceed 100°F.
Off Season: November to April
Many hotels, restaurants, and even some cultural attractions shut completely, so plan your journey in advance. Winter winds can be harsh (temperatures average 50-degrees) and boat travel may be disrupted. Locals, however, are especially welcoming in low season.
Sweet Spot: May to June; September to October
Unless nightlife is your goal, this is the best time to visit. The 70-degree weather is reasonable, the sea is warm enough for swimming, and the beaches are not overcrowded. Hotels, restaurants, and cultural attractions are open, yet peaceful.
