Overview

Hanoi is still a little short on luxury lodgings. There are really only two bona fide luxury hotels in Hanoi at the moment, the colonial-era Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, and the relatively new Hanoi Westlake. The formidable rack rates are considerably lower if you book online or through a travel agent or … more tour operator. You’ll also find several business hotels, including big chains like Accor, Hilton, and Sheraton. Hanoi also has a few small hotels that are more than adequate yet don’t quite rate being called “boutique,” plus an endless supply – especially in the Old Quarter – of “mini hotels” that are geared toward backpackers. The city is still evolving, and the situation is bound to change.
