Taking sand dollars from the beach, running on the sand dunes, alcohol, and glass are all prohibited on the island’s beaches.
Dine early
Hilton Head’s restaurants are expensive by South Carolina standards, but most – even fine-dining establishments – offer an early-dining menu. Expect to pay about $20 for a three-course, limited-choice menu.
Hot golf
You’ll save a bundle if you can stand the heat – reduced greens fees are offered for mid-day tee times at most golf courses.
Rent a car
There is taxi service, but having your own wheels is necessary to see it all.
Where’s the Beach
Though all the beaches on Hilton Head are public, the land to access them often isn’t. Many, but not all, beaches are accessible only to resort guests. The beach at Coligny Plaza is our favorite of the island’s four public beach accesses.
