Hong Kong: Getting There

Airport Only a decade old, Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), known locally as Chek Lap Kok, still looks brand spanking new. One of the world’s busiest hubs, it’s won several accolades, and has excellent facilities and good public transport links to Hong Kong from its Lantau location.

Airlines Most major international carriers fly here, as does well-respected, budget airline, Jet Star Asia. Cathay Pacific, United, and American Airlines all fly direct from SFO and LAX. Singapore Air and US Airways also travel to Hong Kong from SFO. Continental flies nonstop from Newark (EWR) on the East Coast.

Flight Times Nonstop flights from the West Coast take around 14 hours going (12 hours returning). It’s about 16 hours each way from the East Coast.
