Honolulu Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods

Honolulu's neighborhoods are microcosms of their origins: Chinatown combines trans-Pacific cultures and has all the Chinese food and culture you could want with a tropical flair, and Downtown highlights the history of Hawaii so visitors see how truly different a state this is than the other 49. The rest more of the neighborhoods provide plenty of attractions and commerce to complement Honolulu's natural beauty: dine, shop, mingle, and ogle in and at the trendy boutiques, restaurants, and homes.

Chinatown
Northeast of downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, have a traditional breakfast of dim sum, shop for local fruits and vegetables, and watch women patiently stringing leis, one fragrant flower at a time.
NoHo
The galleries, restaurants, bars, and trendy shops in NoHo (along Nu’uanu Avenue north of Hotel Street) comprise a funky arts district.
Kapiolani Park
Amble through 500-acre Kapiolani Park to spot early-risers doing tai chi and drop into the Honolulu Zoo and Aquarium.
Kahala
Honolulu’s version of Palm Beach, anchored by Diamond Head to the west, is rife with gawk-worthy mansions.
Downtown
A mix of graceful buildings like the state capitol and ‘Iolani Palace, historic sites like the statue of King Kamehameha I, and lush parks rife with fragrant flowers.
Waikiki
Designer boutiques, beach shops, and tiki bars line the most famous beach in the world.
